I bought it to replace an old ATI TV Wonder which still functions like it did when it was new, but can't get digital channels over the air.The driver and WinTV software install went without a hitch. That time, I got better results.
For reference, I have a neighbor who gets eighteen digital channels over the air using an ordinary set-top antennas. It found four channels from two area broadcasters.
The Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-950Q didn't function nearly as well as I had expected. I own an amplified Jensen antenna, so I tried it next.
Ultimately, I decided to return the Hauppauge for a refund. I had purchased this item anticipating that I could use it to receive local digital television broadcasts.
I was pleased to see this product features S-video, composite, and audio connections for external interfacing possibilities. When I did the initial scan using the included passive antenna, the Hauppauge found no channels.
The remote doesn't work. Otherwise it's ok. Well, all I can say is that it works. I have to use the Comcast Cable remote to change channels. It really isn't anything to write home about. It installed by itself. The only exceptions are that the remote is useless and that it takes a long time to load.
This is a great TV at a great price. The software installed easily and the TV works as it should.
Other than that the unit delivers very good picture quality Came with a broken remote.
I hooked up my Epsom 70 projector and have a wide screen that looks as good as my Sony 40 inch, without the reflections. I was not expecting too much and all I could say was wow. Easy installation and reception is excellent where I live. I am getting over forty (40)digital channels.
